A Growing Nation

Today was group 4's turn for their Direct Instruction lesson! Their instruction was fun to watch because of their unique use of graphics and technology. For behavior management, the teachers used this scale shown. They had a panda named Petunia that they placed in front of each emoji based on the students behavior. Their call and response was "Holy Moly" "Guacamole". They also had thumbs up, thumbs down, and an I don't understand emojis to hold up for teacher assessment.

For reflection, my favorite part was the use of the new app SUPERMOJI App!
Petunia the panda (aka my friend Mikayla) asked the students review questions. I thought  this was very creative and the students loved the use of a talking emoji panda! For Guided Practice the students played BINGO and they loooooveeeedd it!! They asked for more so they played three rounds total! It was awesome, the students were completely engaged in the activity and it reflected in their behavior . To close the lesson, the students put something they learned or still need to understand on an emoji scale pictured above.
